Yahoo.com is reporting that Grant Hill has decided to stay put in Phoenix after all. A shocking move considering many people, including myself, fully expected Hill to be headed to the Knicks. Hill however, always known to be one of the classiest guys in the league, basically wanted to repay the Suns for taking a chance on him when his career looked like it was over a few years ago. Once he got word that Steve Nash was close to signing an extension, it was just a matter of time. The move still doesn’t put Phoenix in the playoff picture next year, but at least things aren’t as bleak as they seemed yesterday.

Pedro Goes to the Enemy
Posted by blask22 on July 10, 2009
Pedro Martinez is likely headed to Philadelphia to pitch for the Phillies, a move that makes a lot of sense for the defending champs. Let’s face it, the Phillies have a terrible starting rotation and adding Pedro would solidify them a little bit. After Hamels, they’re going out there with guys such as J.A. Happ and Joe Blanton. I know they won the World Series without a great rotation, but at least they had Brett Myers behind Hamels. Read the rest of this entry »

NBA Offseason: Winners and Losers
Posted by elpiero on July 10, 2009
The NBA offseason may have just hit its stride, but that doesn’t mean we can’t shed some light on which teams have improved and which teams have already given up on next season (I’m looking at you, Milwaukee!). Let’s get right into it…
Offseason Winners:
SAN ANTONIO: Over the past decade, they’ve pretty much created the blueprint for how to run an NBA team. Thanks to injuries, they stumbled in the first round last season and were sent packing. Trust me, that won’t happen next year. Not when they add Richard Jefferson and Antonio McDyess to a roster that’s also awaiting the return of a healthy Manu Ginobili. Add to that the steal of the draft, Big East Co-Player of the Year DeJuan Blair, a guy who’s gonna give them some rebounding and energy off the bench, and you have a title contender once again.

1-on-1 with Barry Traub
Posted by darule031 on July 8, 2009
With so many questions still surrounding the Donte Stallworth case, where do you turn? How about right here. For all of our legal questions, we turn to our legal analyst, Barry Traub. Who is Barry Traub, you ask? Let’s find out…
Barry served in the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office from 1982-1985. He served as the Office as an Assistant D.A. and prosecuted both misdemeanor cases as well as felony cases and was in charge of the Grand Jury Section during his term of office. He then served a term as a Public Defender and was elected as a Municipal Court Judge and served for a 12 year term. He was elected as one of the youngest judges ever in New York State at the time at the age of 31. All told, he’s been a defense attorney for over 24 years.

Changes Need To Be Made To The All-Star Game
Posted by uncleralphy08 on July 7, 2009
The 80th MLB All-Star Game will be held at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on July 14th, and is sure to be another great event. Although the game is always a huge success and the pre-game festivities always draw huge crowds (HR Derby, All-Star Futures Game, Celebrity Softball Game), there are still a few changes that need to be made to the mid-summer classic to enhance the game and make it a more enjoyable experience for the fans and it’s players.

U.S.A…U.S.A…U.S.A!!!
Posted by blask22 on June 25, 2009
The United States pulled off the unthinkable Tuesday afternoon and beat Spain, the number one ranked team in the world. The U.S. was not given much of a chance against Spain after being dismantled by both Brazil and Italy, both of which are world powers. But somehow, they earned the upset.
So what does this mean for soccer in the states? Read the rest of this entry »

The Next to 300
Posted by darule031 on June 23, 2009
Congratulations to Randy Johnson, who this month reached an incredible milestone, by reaching the 300-win plateau. The 300 club, which only features 24 MLB pitchers, will not see another member for a very, very long time, and no one will even come close to flirting with Cy Young’s or Walter Johnson’s marks. Come to think of it, no one will even come close to Clemens (354) or Maddux (355). Right now, Tom Glavine is the winningest “active” pitcher, if you can even call him that, and he is at 305 career wins – obviously no way he is catching Clemens or Maddux at the ripe age of 43.
So, who’s next? Who can make a run at 350, or even 300 for that matter? Will it ever happen again? Will it be CC? Johan? Zambrano? These are the questions we are going to be asking ourselves for the many years to come. Well, the answer is simple…no. In an era of the 5-6 man rotation, monitoring pitch counts, and needles, we will never see another player reach the 300-win plateau in our lifetime. But, that doesn’t stop our quest in search for the next player who will flirt with 300.

2009 U.S. Open Preview
Posted by uncleralphy08 on June 17, 2009

The U.S. Open returns to Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York this weekend, which last hosted the tournament in 2002. Back then, yup you guessed it, Tiger Woods was victorious.
Fresh off a win at the Memorial two weeks ago, Woods looks now to win back-to-back U.S. Open Championships and is poised to show the world that he is indeed ready to stand on top of the golf world again. 156 golfers will set foot on the Black course at Bethpage, but only one will come out with the title of 2009 U.S. Open winner. Phil? Sergio? Tiger? A no-name? A sleeper? I’ll do my best to predict a winner for you.

Tiger Woods Is Done
Posted by blask22 on June 24, 2009
I spent this weekend watching the U.S. Open and even attended the Final Round on Monday. What I came home with was a great experience, and knowing that Tiger Woods is no longer the same golfer we’ve known. Woods shot even par and finished 6th, but was never really in contention to actually win the Open. His short game was terrible as he missed a ton of 8-10 footers. You could make the case that the tournament was his if he makes those putts. Read the rest of this entry »
